Are you hearing the True Gospel? Part 2

The best way to recognize something that is false is to know by heart how the true thing looks like. If we know what the true Gospel is, we will be quick to recognize false teachings.

Romans 1:16

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."

The word Salvation in the Greek is the word sótéria which has a much wider meaning than just saved from hell. It means: welfare, health, prosperity, deliverance, preservation, salvation, safety (Strong’s Concordance). Verse 17 continues to explain that this true Gospel the Righteousness of God is revealed; Not the sinfulness of man, nor man’s own righteousness!

We are not Perfect, but we are in the Prefect One!!

The law demands righteousness from bankrupt man. Grace IMPARTS righteousness to man!

Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ: The Good News

Galatians 4:4-7

4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Galatians 5:1

1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

Transformation in the New Covenant

2 Corinthians 3:14-18

14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Titus 2:9-15

9 Exhort bondservants to be obedient to their own masters, to be well pleasing in all things, not answering back, 10 not pilfering, but showing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things. 11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. 15 Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.

Romans 6:14

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Galatians 5:16-18

16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Romans 8:1-4

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

What is our Enemy’s weapon?

The Devil battlefield is our minds and the weapon he uses is the law. In the book of Revelations the devil is referred as the “accuser of our brethren” (Revelations 12:10). The Greek word for accuser is katēgoros, which means Complainant at Law. In other Words the Devil comes against us using the Law to accuse and to bring condemnation.

Why the serpent didn’t tempt Eve to kill Adam? Because there was NO LAW saying: “Thou shall not kill each other”. The only law given was: do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Needless to say that was the very law used to tempt the couple. When we are NOT under Law, but under Grace, the devil DOES NOT have ANY weapons to use against us! That is why the Word declares that only then Sin shall not have dominion over us!! That is the Gospel!! That is The Good News!!

Colossians 2:13-17

13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. 16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.
